No. 14 Purdue opened its 2022-23 season with an 88-48 exhibition win over Division II Indianapolis on Monday night at Mackey Arena.
Center Zach Edey led the Boilermakers with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field. He also grabbed 13 rebounds.
Purdue shot 54.8% from the field and held Indianapolis to just 33.3% shooting.
The Boilermakers also dominated the glass, outrebounding Indianapolis 46-28.
Purdue will open its regular season on Monday, November 7th, when they host Milwaukee at Mackey Arena.
Purdue Dominates From Start to Finish
Purdue wasted no time taking control of the game. The Boilermakers jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first five minutes of the game.
Purdue's defense was stifling, holding Indianapolis to just 1-of-11 shooting from the field.
The Boilermakers continued to pour it on in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 40 points.
Edey Leads the Way
Edey was a force in the paint for Purdue. He scored 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting from the field and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Edey also blocked two shots and dished out two assists.
The 7-foot-4 center is expected to be one of the best players in the country this season.
