Allen Lazard, Romeo Doubs to Start for Packers on MNF
Christian Watson Ruled Out; Sammy Watkins Questionable
Green Bay Packers wide receivers Allen Lazard and Romeo Doubs are expected to start Monday Night Football against the Los Angeles Rams, per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Christian Watson has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, while Sammy Watkins is questionable with a hamstring injury of his own.
Lazard's Return a Boost for Packers Offense
Lazard has been dealing with an ankle injury but practiced in full on Friday. His return is a boost for the Packers' offense, as he is one of Aaron Rodgers' favorite targets. In eight games this season, Lazard has caught 42 passes for 484 yards and four touchdowns.
Doubs Emerging as Rodgers' New Favorite Target
Doubs has emerged as Rodgers' new favorite target in recent weeks. In the past three games, Doubs has caught 20 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns. He is averaging 80.3 receiving yards per game during that span.
Packers Will Need Contributions from Lazard, Doubs
With Watson out, the Packers will need Lazard and Doubs to step up and produce. The Rams have a tough pass defense, so it will be a challenge for the Packers' receivers to get open. However, Lazard and Doubs have shown that they can be productive, so the Packers will be counting on them to make big plays on Monday Night Football.
Injury Updates for Other Packers Players
In addition to Watson and Watkins, the Packers have a few other players who are dealing with injuries. Cornerback Jaire Alexander (groin) is questionable, while linebacker Quay Walker (ankle) is doubtful. Running back Aaron Jones (knee) is expected to play.
