ATP Shanghai: Medvedev Storms to Third Tour Title With Shanghai Victory

The Russian cruises past Tsitsipas in straight sets to seal his third title of the season.

Daniil Medvedev has continued his impressive run of form by cruising to a straight-sets victory over Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final of the ATP Shanghai Masters. The Russian, who has now won three titles this season, was in dominant form throughout the match, breaking Tsitsipas' serve six times on his way to a 6-4, 6-1 victory.

Medvedev started the match strongly, breaking Tsitsipas' serve in the opening game. He then held his own serve to love, before breaking Tsitsipas again in the third game. Tsitsipas managed to break back in the fourth game, but Medvedev immediately broke back again, and then held his own serve to love to take a 5-2 lead.

Tsitsipas saved two set points in the eighth game, but Medvedev eventually served out the set 6-4. The second set was even more one-sided, with Medvedev breaking Tsitsipas' serve three times on his way to a 6-1 victory.

Medvedev's impressive season continues

Medvedev's victory in Shanghai is his third title of the season, following his wins in Cincinnati and St. Petersburg. He has now won 11 of his last 12 matches, and is one of the most in-form players on the ATP Tour.

The Russian is now up to fourth in the ATP rankings, and is a genuine contender for the year-end world number one ranking. He will be back in action next week at the ATP Vienna Open, where he will be looking to continue his impressive run of form.

Tsitsipas falls short in Shanghai

Tsitsipas was bidding to win his second ATP Masters 1000 title of the season, but he was outplayed by Medvedev in Shanghai. The Greek star had a solid week in Shanghai, but he was unable to match Medvedev's consistency and power.

Tsitsipas will now turn his attention to the ATP Finals, which will be held in London from November 10-17. He will be hoping to finish the season on a high, and will be one of the contenders for the title.
