Brooklyn Nets fire coach Jordi Fernández after 22-10 start, Adrian Griffin to take over on interim basis
Fernández fired after Nets' first losing streak of season
The Brooklyn Nets have fired coach Jordi Fernández after a 22-10 start to the season, the team announced on Monday.
The Nets have lost four straight games, including a 132-118 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday night.
Fernández was hired by the Nets in June 2022 after spending the previous two seasons as an assistant coach with the Memphis Grizzlies.
He led the Nets to a 22-10 record in his first season as head coach, but the team has struggled in recent weeks.
The Nets are currently in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, but they are just 2.5 games ahead of the fifth-place New York Knicks.
Adrian Griffin to take over as interim head coach
The Nets have named assistant coach Adrian Griffin as the interim head coach.
Griffin has been an assistant coach with the Nets since 2020.
He has also been the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks and the Orlando Magic.
Nets' next game
The Nets will host the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night.
It will be Griffin's first game as the interim head coach.
