The Ohio State Buckeyes started their 2024 season with a hard-fought 80-72 victory over the Texas Longhorns at Value City Arena. The Buckeyes were led by Brice Sensabaugh's 15 points, while Zed Key added 14 points and 10 rebounds. Texas was led by Dillon Mitchell's 17 points.

The Buckeyes jumped out to an early lead and never looked back, leading by as many as 20 points in the first half. Texas cut the lead to 10 points at halftime, but the Buckeyes pulled away again in the second half.

The Buckeyes were able to withstand a late run by the Longhorns, who cut the lead to five points with just over two minutes to play. But the Buckeyes made their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.
