Columbus Hosts National Championship Rematch

The Ohio State Buckeyes will open the 126th season of football Monday night when they host the No. 19 Texas Longhorns in a rematch of the 2023 College Football Playoff National Championship. The game will be played at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, and will be televised on ESPN.

The Buckeyes are coming off a 13-1 season in which they won the Big Ten Championship and reached the College Football Playoff for the third time in four years. Ohio State lost to Alabama in the national championship game, but they return a number of key players from that team, including quarterback C.J. Stroud, running back TreVeyon Henderson, and wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Texas is coming off a 8-5 season in which they finished third in the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns lost to Ole Miss in the Texas Bowl, but they return a number of key players from that team, including quarterback Quinn Ewers, running back Bijan Robinson, and wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

The Buckeyes are a 17-point favorite in the game, but the Longhorns are a dangerous team. Texas has a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, and they will be looking to make a statement in their first game under new head coach Steve Sarkisian.
