Ayotte Sticks With Sununu
N.H. Gov. Chris Sununu will not be challenged by former U.S. Sen. Kelly Ayotte in the Republican primary next year. Ayotte made the announcement during an interview with WMUR-TV on Thursday, October 27, 2022.
Ayotte was considered a potential challenger to Sununu, who is seeking a fourth two-year term. But Ayotte said she has decided to focus on her work as president of the Independent Women's Forum, a conservative think tank.
“I’m proud of my years of public service. I’ve put my heart and soul into my work, putting Granite Staters first,” Ayotte said.

In Massachusetts, Gov. Charlie Baker said he has "quite a long list" of potential candidates to succeed him, but declined to name any specific individuals. Baker, a Republican, is not seeking a third term in office.
Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito has already announced that she will run for governor.
Former State Rep. Geoff Diehl, who lost to Baker in the 2018 gubernatorial race, is also running for governor as a Republican.
