DFDS ends deal to buy transport network from Turkey’s Ekol
Danish shipping and logistics firm DFDS has terminated an agreement to acquire Ekol Logistics’ transport network in Turkey and Bulgaria.
DFDS said in a statement on Tuesday that the deal was terminated due to “unforeseen circumstances” and that it would not proceed with the acquisition.
The deal, which was announced in December 2022, would have seen DFDS acquire Ekol’s transport network in Turkey and Bulgaria, including its fleet of trucks, trailers, and warehouses.
The acquisition would have strengthened DFDS’s presence in the Turkish and Bulgarian markets and would have allowed it to offer a wider range of services to its customers.
However, DFDS said that it had decided to terminate the deal after “carefully considering” the “unforeseen circumstances” that had arisen.
The company did not provide any further details on the circumstances that led to the termination of the deal.
Ekol Logistics is a leading provider of logistics services in Turkey and has a strong presence in Bulgaria.
The company offers a wide range of services, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
DFDS is a Danish shipping and logistics company that provides ferry and freight services across Europe and the Middle East.
The company has a fleet of over 500 ships and employs over 8,000 people.
