The DV Lottery application process is conducted online. Applications are typically accepted from October to November each year.
Applicants must submit a completed application form, along with a digital photograph and a fee. The application form requires personal information, education and work experience details, and contact information.
Selection Process
After the application deadline, all eligible applications are entered into a computerized lottery. Approximately 50,000 applicants are randomly selected for further processing.
Selected applicants are notified via email and are required to submit additional documents, such as a passport and medical examination results.
Visa Issuance
If an applicant is approved after the document review process, they will be issued a DV immigrant visa. DV visas are valid for six months and allow the holder to enter the United States to become a lawful permanent resident.
