Weather Alert Day
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for the entire island of Hawai’i, effective from 6:00 AM HST on Tuesday, November 8, until 6:00 AM HST on Wednesday, November 9. Heavy rain is expected to fall over the island, with rainfall totals of 10 to 20 inches possible in some areas. This could lead to flash flooding, especially in areas with poor drainage.
Safety Precautions
Residents of the Big Island are urged to take precautions to stay safe during the flash flood watch. This includes:
- Avoiding driving through flooded areas.
- Moving to higher ground if you live in a low-lying area.
- Securing loose objects around your home and yard.
Election Day Forecast
In addition to the flash flood watch, the National Weather Service has also issued a forecast for Election Day on Tuesday, November 8. The forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers. There is a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. The high temperature will be in the mid-80s.
Voter Information
Voters on the Big Island are encouraged to check the latest weather forecast before heading to the polls. If there is any chance of rain, voters should bring an umbrella or raincoat. They should also allow extra time to get to the polls, as there may be delays due to traffic or flooding.
