Flood Warning issued for the Big Island and Maui
National Weather Service issues flood watch

HONOLULU, Hawaiʻi — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Honolulu has issued a **Flood Watch** for the **Island of Hawaiʻi** and **Maui** until 6 p.m. HST on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
The NWS has advised that due to heavy rainfall expected from Hurricane Dora, flash flooding may occur in areas with poor drainage.
Residents in affected areas are urged to take the following precautions:
- Monitor weather conditions and be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
- Stay away from swollen rivers, streams, and drainage ditches.
- Do not attempt to cross flowing water.
- Have an emergency plan in place and know where to go if flooding occurs.
The NWS will continue to monitor the situation and will issue updates as necessary.
