Huskers Open 2024-25 Season vs. UT Rio Grande Valley on Monday
The Nebraska men's basketball team will kick off the 2024-25 season at home against UT Rio Grande Valley on Monday, November 11th.
The game will be the first official game of the Fred Hoiberg era in Lincoln.
Hoiberg was hired as the Huskers' head coach in March after spending the previous seven seasons at Iowa State.
Season Outlook
The Huskers are coming off a 19-13 season in which they finished seventh in the Big Ten with a 9-11 record.
They return three starters from that team, including senior guard Sam Griesel and junior forward Derrick Walker.
The Huskers also added several key transfers, including guard Keisei Tominaga from Arizona and forward Juwan Gary from Alabama.
UT Rio Grande Valley is coming off a 15-16 season in which they finished sixth in the Western Athletic Conference with a 7-11 record.
The Vaqueros return three starters from that team, including senior guard Marek Olesinski and junior forward Marek Curilla.
Hoiberg is excited about the upcoming season and believes that the Huskers have a chance to be a competitive team in the Big Ten.
