La Plata County Election Official Rolls Out New Ballocation System for Local Election

Election Day Processes Could Be Streamlined

Residents in La Plata County may soon experience a smoother and more efficient Election Day process.

La Plata County Clerk and Recorder Tiffany Lee announced in a recent interview that the county is implementing a new ballot tracking system for the upcoming local election.

The system, called BallotTrax, will allow voters to track the status of their ballots online or via text message, Lee explained.

Voters can register for the service by providing their name, address, and date of birth. Once registered, they will receive email or text message updates on the status of their ballot, including when it has been mailed, received by the county, and counted.

Lee said the new system will provide voters with greater peace of mind and will help to ensure that every vote is counted.

"We want to make sure that every voter in La Plata County has a positive and seamless voting experience," Lee said. "BallotTrax will help us to do that by providing voters with real-time updates on the status of their ballots."

The new system is just one of several initiatives that the county is undertaking to improve the voting process.

In recent years, the county has also implemented online voter registration, early voting, and expanded access to drop boxes.

Lee said that these initiatives are all part of the county's commitment to making voting as easy and accessible as possible for all residents.

"We want to make sure that everyone in La Plata County has the opportunity to participate in our democracy," Lee said. "These initiatives are all designed to make voting more convenient and more accessible for all voters."

The new ballot tracking system will be in place for the upcoming local election, which will be held on Nov. 8.
