Lions Welcome William Carey Monday to Open 2024-25 Season

The Lions have added William Carey University to the 2024-25 Columbus Lions basketball schedule. Columbus will host the Crusaders on Monday, November 11. Tip-off from The Mississippi University for Women Welty Center is set for 7 p.m. CT.

Columbus, riding a program-best 24-7 record during the 2022-23 campaign, will meet the Hattiesburg, Mississippi-based Crusaders for the first time in program history. William Carey finished 15-14 in 2022-23, reaching the semifinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament and a berth in the NAIA National Tournament.

With the addition of William Carey, Columbus has set six non-conference games for the 2024-25 campaign. The Lions will open the season with three-straight home games, starting November 11 versus William Carey. Columbus will also host Ave Maria on Nov. 14 and Jarvis Christian on Nov. 21. All three games are slated for a 7 p.m. CT start.

Columbus, 14-2 at The W last season, will also play three non-conference road games in 2024-25. The Lions will travel to Southern Miss on November 25, Shorter University on December 10 and Blue Mountain College on January 17. Game times for all three contests will be announced at a later date.

Conference play for the Lions in the 2024-25 Southern States Athletic Conference will begin on December 3.
