Marcelo's Fluminense deal ended after coach spat
Former Real Madrid and Brazil left-back Marcelo had his contract with Fluminense terminated by mutual consent on Saturday, a day after a training ground bust-up with the club's coach.
Marcelo, 34, joined his boyhood club Fluminense in January after leaving Greek side Olympiacos but his second spell with the Brazilian Serie A side was cut short after a row with coach Fernando Diniz.
Local media reported that Marcelo and Diniz had a heated argument on Friday after the player was substituted during a friendly match against Portuguese side Estoril.
Fluminense said in a statement that the decision to terminate Marcelo's contract was made "amicably" and that the club wished him "all the best for the rest of his career".
Marcelo made 58 appearances for Brazil and was a key member of the team that won the 2013 Confederations Cup and the 2019 Copa America.
He also won five Champions League titles, five La Liga titles and two Copa del Rey titles with Real Madrid.
