Nebraska WBB 2024-25 Season Preview
Huskers Look to Return to the NCAA Tournament
Nebraska women's basketball will look to return to the NCAA Tournament in the 2024-25 season. The Huskers, who finished 18-12 last season, lost in the first round of the WNIT.
Nebraska returns four starters from last season's team, including junior guard Sam Haiby and sophomore forward Alexis Markowski. Haiby is the Huskers' leading returning scorer, averaging 14.2 points per game last season. Markowski is a 6-foot-3 center who averaged 10.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game last season.
The Huskers also added three transfers this offseason: guard Maddie Krull from Marquette, forward Annika Stewart from Illinois, and center Whitney Brown from Texas. Krull is a 5-foot-11 guard who averaged 8.9 points per game last season. Stewart is a 6-foot-3 forward who averaged 10.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game last season. Brown is a 6-foot-5 center who averaged 7.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game last season.
Nebraska will open the season on Nov. 7 against Mississippi Valley State. The Huskers' non-conference schedule also includes games against Creighton, South Dakota State, and Oklahoma.
Outlook
Nebraska has a lot of talent and experience returning this season. The Huskers should be a contender for an NCAA Tournament berth. However, the Huskers will need to improve their defense in order to be successful. Nebraska allowed opponents to score an average of 70.3 points per game last season.
