Neches River Under Flood Warning, Tropical Storm Forming
Neches River Flooding
The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Neches River near Evadale, Texas. The river is expected to crest at 22.5 feet on Wednesday, which is just below the record crest of 23.39 feet set in 2017. The Neches River has already flooded several roads in the area, and more flooding is possible as the river continues to rise. Residents in low-lying areas are urged to be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
Tropical Storm Celia Forming
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico that is expected to become a tropical storm later today. The disturbance is located about 200 miles south-southeast of Galveston, Texas, and is moving west-northwest at 10 mph. The tropical disturbance is expected to bring heavy rainfall to the upper Texas coast and southeastern Louisiana over the next few days. There is also a chance that the disturbance could develop into a hurricane by the end of the week. Residents in the affected areas should monitor the storm's progress and be prepared to take action if necessary.
