New York Knicks Set to Acquire Cameron Payne from the Houston Rockets
The New York Knicks are on the verge of acquiring point guard Cameron Payne from the Houston Rockets, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Knicks will reportedly send a second-round pick to the Rockets in exchange for Payne, who has been a key contributor for Houston this season.
Payne, 28, is averaging 10.8 points and 4.4 assists per game this season. He has also shot 40.3% from the field and 36.9% from three-point range.
The Knicks are in need of a point guard after Kemba Walker was traded to the Detroit Pistons earlier this season. Payne would give the Knicks a solid option at the point guard position and would help to improve their offense.
The Rockets, meanwhile, are reportedly looking to trade Payne in order to clear some cap space. The Rockets are currently over the salary cap and are looking to make some moves to get under the cap.
The trade is expected to be finalized in the coming days.
