Opinion: Five Things for NH Seniors to Consider Before Heading to Vote
1. Consider Your Values
First, think about what's important to you. What issues matter most to you and your own life? Do you care most about the economy? Healthcare? Education? Taxes?
Once you know what your values are, research the candidates and their platforms. See which candidates align most closely with your own beliefs. This will help you make an informed decision on Election Day.
2. Research the Candidates
Don't just vote for a candidate because they have a familiar name or because they're from your party. Take the time to learn about each candidate's experience, qualifications, and positions on the issues.
You can find information about the candidates from a variety of sources, including their websites, campaign literature, and news articles. You can also attend candidate forums and debates.
3. Consider the Impact of Your Vote
When you vote, you're not just voting for a candidate. You're also voting for the policies that they will support.
Think about how the candidates' positions on the issues will affect you and your community. Consider the long-term consequences of your vote.
4. Make a Plan to Vote
Election Day is November 8, 2022. Make sure you have a plan to vote on that day.
Check your voter registration status and make sure you're registered to vote in your current address. If you're not registered, you can register online or at your local voter registration office.
5. Get Involved
Voting is just one way to make your voice heard. You can also get involved in the political process by volunteering for a candidate or campaign, donating to a cause you believe in, or attending community meetings.
