NC State's Women's Basketball Team Prepares for Season
Wolfpack Concludes Preseason with Victory
The NC State women's basketball team concluded its preseason schedule with a 90-51 exhibition victory over Lees-McRae College on Sunday, November 6th, at Reynolds Coliseum.
Sophomore Jakia Brown-Turner led the Wolfpack with 16 points, while redshirt junior Saniya Rivers added 15 and senior Jada Boyd chipped in 14. The trio combined to shoot 19-of-33 (57.6%) from the field.
As a team, NC State shot 50.8% (33-of-65) from the field and 33.3% (8-of-24) from three-point range. The Wolfpack also outrebounded Lees-McRae 40-27.
The Wolfpack will open the regular season on Monday, November 14th, when they host the UNC Wilmington Seahawks at Reynolds Coliseum. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET.
Brown-Turner Leads Wolfpack in Scoring
Sophomore Jakia Brown-Turner has emerged as a key player for the Wolfpack this preseason. The 6-foot-1 forward has averaged 15.0 points and 7.8 rebounds in three exhibition games.
Brown-Turner is a versatile player who can score inside and out. She is also a strong rebounder and defender.
The Wolfpack will need Brown-Turner to continue to produce if they want to have a successful season.
Rivers and Boyd Provide Senior Leadership
Redshirt junior Saniya Rivers and senior Jada Boyd are two of the most experienced players on the Wolfpack roster.
Rivers is a 6-foot-2 center who is a force in the paint. She is a good scorer and rebounder.
Boyd is a 5-foot-11 guard who is a good shooter and passer.
Rivers and Boyd will be counted on to provide leadership and stability for the Wolfpack this season.
Wolfpack Ready for Regular Season
The Wolfpack have had a successful preseason and are now ready for the regular season.
NC State has a talented roster and should be a contender in the ACC this season.
