New Orleans Pelicans suffer a tough loss against the Portland Trail Blazers in their final preseason game.
The New Orleans Pelicans wrapped up their preseason schedule with a disappointing 111-93 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night at the Moda Center.
After a back-and-forth first half, the Pelicans took a 60-59 lead into halftime. However, the Trail Blazers came out firing in the third quarter and outscored the Pelicans 32-19 to take a 91-79 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Pelicans went ice cold in the fourth quarter, shooting just 2-of-14 from the field and 0-of-9 from three-point range. The Trail Blazers, meanwhile, shot 50% from the field in the fourth quarter and hit 5-of-12 from three-point range to pull away with the victory.
CJ McCollum leads the Trail Blazers with 26 points
CJ McCollum led the Trail Blazers with 26 points, followed by Damian Lillard with 22 points and Jusuf Nurkic with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Brandon Ingram led the Pelicans with 18 points, followed by Zion Williamson with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Jonas Valanciunas with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Pelicans now 2-3 in preseason
The Pelicans finished the preseason with a 2-3 record. They will open the regular season on Wednesday, October 20th, at home against the Brooklyn Nets.
The Trail Blazers, meanwhile, finished the preseason with a 4-1 record. They will open the regular season on Wednesday, October 20th, at home against the Sacramento Kings.
