Russia to launch Iranian Kowsar, Hodhod satellites into space early on Nov. 5, says ambassador
Russia will launch two Iranian satellites into orbit early on November 5, the Russian ambassador to Iran said on Monday, deepening cooperation between the two countries in space.
“The launch of the satellites was postponed due to technical issues, but now everything is ready for the launch,” Kazem Jalali, Iran’s ambassador to Russia, told reporters in Tehran.
The Kowsar satellite is a remote-sensing satellite that will be used for environmental monitoring and natural disaster management, while the Hodhod satellite is a telecommunications satellite that will provide secure communications for the Iranian military.
The launch of the satellites is the latest sign of growing cooperation between Russia and Iran in the space sector.
In recent years, the two countries have signed a number of agreements on space cooperation, including a deal to develop a joint satellite constellation.
The launch of the Kowsar and Hodhod satellites will further strengthen the partnership between Russia and Iran in space and help to promote peace and stability in the region.
