Spain’s Trapped Minors drama: The boys are free!

Incredible rescue after thirteen days

The children and their coach are finally safe after two weeks trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand.

The rescue of 12 boys and their soccer coach from a flooded cave in Thailand has been completed after 13 days. The final five boys and their coach were brought out of the Tham Luang Nang Non cave on Tuesday evening, July 10. It comes after a dramatic and dangerous mission to rescue the team, who became trapped on June 23 after heavy rains flooded the cave.

The boys, aged 11-16, and their 25-year-old coach had been trapped in the cave for more than two weeks. They were discovered by British divers on Monday, July 2.
The rescue operation began on Sunday, July 8, and involved a team of more than 90 divers from around the world. The boys were brought out of the cave in groups of four, with the final five boys and their coach being brought out on Tuesday.
The rescue has been hailed as a triumph for international cooperation and human ingenuity.
The boys and their coach are now recovering in hospital, and are expected to make a full recovery.
