Her latest honor follows her Big Ten Freshman of the Week nod earlier in the season
A week after earning her first career Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor, Michigan State Spartans guard Julia Ayrault has done it again.
The conference announced Monday that Ayrault has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week for the second time this season.
The 5-foot-8 guard from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, averaged 16.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games last week, helping the Spartans to a 2-0 record. She shot 50.0% from the field (10-of-20), 42.9% from three-point range (3-of-7) and 85.7% from the free throw line (6-of-7).
Ayrault scored a game-high 18 points in Michigan State's 74-64 win over Oakland on Wednesday. She followed that up with a 14-point, six-rebound performance in the Spartans' 83-55 victory over Western Michigan on Saturday.
For the season, Ayrault is averaging 12.1 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. She leads the Spartans in three-point shooting, making 40.7% of her attempts (24-of-59).
Ayrault is the first Michigan State player to earn Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors twice in a season since Aerial Powers did it in 2013-14.
The Spartans are now 10-3 overall and 2-0 in Big Ten play. They will return to action on Wednesday when they host Illinois at the Breslin Center.
