Tom Izzo considering lineup changes after exhibition finale
Michigan State men's basketball coach Tom Izzo said he's considering making some lineup changes after the Spartans' exhibition finale on Sunday.
Izzo said he was not happy with the team's performance in Sunday's 73-56 win over Grand Valley State. The Spartans shot just 39% from the field and turned the ball over 15 times.
"I thought we were sloppy," Izzo said. "We didn't play with the energy and intensity that I'm used to seeing from this team."
Izzo said he is considering starting senior forward Joey Hauser in place of junior forward Malik Hall. Hauser had 10 points and seven rebounds against Grand Valley State.
"Joey played well tonight," Izzo said. "He's a smart player who can make shots. I'm going to think about starting him on Friday."
Izzo also said he is considering moving junior guard Tyson Walker to point guard. Walker has been playing shooting guard this season, but Izzo said he likes his ability to create for others.
"Tyson is a good passer and he can make plays for others," Izzo said. "I'm going to think about moving him to point guard."
The Spartans open the regular season on Friday against Northern Arizona. Izzo said he will make a decision on his starting lineup before the game.
