USC women’s basketball edges Ole Miss in Paris to open season

The University of Southern California women’s basketball team officially began their 2022-2023 season with a riveting 75-72 win over the University of Mississippi in the City of Light on Monday, August 8th.
Traveling abroad for their season opener is nothing new for the Trojans.
In 2021, USC traveled to the Bahamas and in 2019, the Trojans played in Spain.
This year’s trip to the French capital proved to be just as exciting.
The Women of Troy trailed by a whopping 13 at the half, with the score 33-20.
The third quarter was a better look for USC, as they managed to tie the game at 50 going into the fourth.
The fourth quarter proved to be the most exciting.
USC held the lead several times, but Ole Miss kept the game close and even took the lead with just over a minute remaining.
With just 22 seconds left on the clock, USC guard Destiny Littleton drained a huge three-pointer to give the Trojans a 73-72 lead.
The USC defense held Ole Miss from scoring again, giving the Trojans the hard-fought victory.
USC’s leading scorer was Littleton, who put up 25 points including five three-pointers.
Freshman forward Aaliyah Gayles added 14 points and 8 rebounds.
Coach Lindsay Gottlieb was proud of her team’s fight, saying, "This is the first time in my career, I've ever been a part of a team winning a game after being down at halftime by double digits."
USC’s 2022-2023 season looks bright, with a tough non-conference schedule and a talented roster.
Fans can expect to see great things from the Women of Troy this year.
