Warm Home Discount
Eligibility Criteria and Application Process
The Warm Home Discount (WHD) is a government scheme in the United Kingdom that provides a one-off payment to eligible low-income households to help with their winter energy bills. The scheme is administered by energy suppliers and the payment is made directly to the household's energy account.
To be eligible for the WHD, you must meet the following criteria:
- You must live in England or Wales.
- You must receive the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit.
- You must be named on the bill for the electricity or gas supply to your home.
If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the WHD by contacting your energy supplier. You will need to provide them with your name, address, and contact details, as well as your Pension Credit award letter.
Payment Amount and Timing
The amount of the WHD payment is £140. The payment is made once a year, usually in October or November. The payment will be applied to your energy account, which will reduce your bill.
