Watch Coldplay give ‘The Karate Kid’ its live debut with ‘Daniel Larusso’ Ralph Macchio
Coldplay have played their new song, ‘The Karate Kid’ for the first time accompanied by the film's Ralph Macchio.
Macchio, who played the film's titular role, appeared on stage to introduce the song – which is set to feature on Coldplay's forthcoming album, 'Music Of The Spheres'. "This is the first time we've ever played it," frontman Chris Martin told the crowd at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire. "It's a great honor to have Ralph here to bless it."
Macchio, who joined the band onstage after they performed their hit single 'Fix You', said: "I've been a fan of Coldplay for many years, and I'm so excited to be here with them tonight. This is going to be a special moment." Coldplay have been teasing the release of 'Music Of The Spheres' for several weeks, sharing cryptic videos and social media posts. The album is set to be released on October 15.
Coldplay's last album, 'Everyday Life', was released in 2019. The album was a critical and commercial success, debuting at number one in the UK and US. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.
The band are set to embark on a world tour in support of 'Music Of The Spheres' in 2022. The tour will begin in Costa Rica on March 18 and will conclude in the UK on August 16.
