NYCFC vs. Philadelphia Union

Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals

NYCFC forward Héber scores late to force winner-takes-all Game 3

New York City FC scored late in the second half to take a tie 1-1 with the Philadelphia Union in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals at Yankee Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022.

The two teams will play a winner-take-all Game 3 on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Subaru Park in Chester, Pennsylvania.

NYCFC forward Héber scored in the 88th minute off an assist from fullback Tayvon Gray, to even the score and break the hearts of the Union faithful, who thought their team was headed to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The Union had taken the lead in the 57th minute on a goal by midfielder Leon Flach.

Both teams had chances to win the game in stoppage time, but neither could find the back of the net.

The game was a rematch of the 2021 Eastern Conference Final, which NYCFC won 2-1.

The Union are the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, while NYCFC is the No. 2 seed.

The winner of the Eastern Conference Semifinals will face either FC Cincinnati or the New England Revolution in the Eastern Conference Finals.
