Lady Griz Ready to Tip-Off Season at Home
The Montana Lady Griz basketball team is set to open their 2022-23 season at home against the Montana State Bobcats on Nov. 10. The Lady Griz are coming off a successful 2021-22 season, finishing with a 25-8 record and advancing to the NCAA Tournament. They are looking to build on that success this season and make another deep run in the postseason.
The Lady Griz are led by a strong core of returning players, including senior guard Carmen Gfeller and junior forward Abby Anderson. Gfeller is a two-time All-Big Sky selection and is one of the top shooters in the conference. Anderson is a versatile forward who can score inside and out. She was named the Big Sky Tournament MVP last season.
The Lady Griz also welcome a talented group of newcomers this season, including freshman guard Kylie Frohlich and junior college transfer forward Lauren Dick. Frohlich is a highly touted recruit who is expected to make an immediate impact. Dick is a physical presence inside who will help the Lady Griz on the boards.
The Lady Griz will face a tough challenge in their season opener against the Bobcats. The Bobcats are a perennial contender in the Big Sky Conference and are coming off a 22-10 season. They are led by senior guard Lexi Dregalla, who is one of the top players in the conference. The Lady Griz will need to play their best game to come away with a victory.
The Lady Griz are excited to open their season at home in front of their fans. They are hoping to start the season strong and build momentum for a successful campaign.
