Your last-minute guide to voting in Kansas & Missouri: Hours, rules, KC area locations
Kansas City area voters, here's what you need to know before you head to the polls
Election day is just around the corner and if you haven’t voted yet, you’re running out of time. In Kansas and Missouri, the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8. You can find your polling place on the websites of the Kansas Secretary of State and the Missouri Secretary of State.
There are a few things you need to bring with you when you go to vote. In Kansas, you will need to bring one of the following forms of ID: a driver's license or non-driver ID card issued by the Kansas Department of Revenue, a U.S. passport, a military ID, or a tribal ID card. In Missouri, you will need to bring one of the following forms of ID: a driver's license or non-driver ID card issued by the Missouri Department of Revenue, a U.S. passport, a military ID, a student ID from a Missouri college or university, or a voter registration card.
Once you have your ID, you will need to check in with a poll worker. The poll worker will give you a ballot. You can then take the ballot to a private booth and fill it out. When you are finished, you will need to return the ballot to the poll worker. The poll worker will then scan your ballot and cast your vote.
If you have any questions about voting, you can contact your local election officials. In Kansas, you can call the Kansas Secretary of State's office at (785) 296-4561. In Missouri, you can call the Missouri Secretary of State's office at (573) 751-4936.
Here are some additional tips for voting in the Kansas City area:
