Buccaneers Sign Veteran DB to Practice Squad
Tampa Bay Adds Depth to Secondary
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed veteran defensive back Nate Brooks to their practice squad, the team announced on Tuesday. Brooks, 28, has appeared in 45 NFL games over the past four seasons with the Detroit Lions, New York Giants, and Las Vegas Raiders.
Brooks Adds Experience and Versatility
Brooks is a versatile player who can play both safety and cornerback. He recorded 32 tackles and three interceptions in 14 games with the Raiders last season. He is expected to provide depth and experience to the Buccaneers' secondary, which lost several key players in free agency this offseason.
Buccaneers Bolstering Defense
The signing of Brooks is the latest move by the Buccaneers to bolster their defense. The team has also signed veteran defensive tackle Akiem Hicks and re-signed defensive end Anthony Nelson in recent weeks. The Buccaneers' defense ranked 28th in points allowed last season, but they hope the addition of Brooks and other new players will help them improve in 2023.
Brooks Excited to Join Buccaneers
In a statement released by the team, Brooks said he is excited to join the Buccaneers and contribute to their success. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this organization," Brooks said. "I'm looking forward to learning from the coaches and players here and helping the team win."
