Krasner warns ‘F around and find out’ about election intimidation
Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is warning potential election intimidators that they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Krasner made the comments at a press conference on Thursday, October 27, 2022, in response to a recent increase in reports of voter intimidation and harassment.
“We will not tolerate any attempts to intimidate or harass voters in Philadelphia,” Krasner said. “If you are caught engaging in these activities, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
Krasner said that his office has already received several reports of voter intimidation, including reports of people being followed to their polling places, being harassed by poll workers, and being threatened with violence.
“These are serious crimes,” Krasner said. “We will not hesitate to prosecute anyone who engages in these activities.”
Krasner urged anyone who experiences or witnesses voter intimidation to report it to his office or to the Philadelphia Police Department.
“We need your help to protect the integrity of our elections,” Krasner said. “If you see something, say something.”
Krasner’s warning comes as the nation prepares for the upcoming midterm elections on Tuesday, November 8, 2022.
There have been concerns about potential voter intimidation in the lead-up to the elections, particularly in light of the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Krasner said that his office is working with the Philadelphia Police Department and other law enforcement agencies to ensure that the elections are safe and secure.
“We are committed to protecting the right to vote for all Philadelphians,” Krasner said. “We will not allow anyone to intimidate or harass our voters.”
