Louisville Suffers First Loss of the Season

The No. 17 Louisville women's basketball team dropped its season opener on Wednesday, falling to No. 5 UCLA 82-68 in Paris, France.

The Cardinals started the game strong, jumping out to an early 10-point lead. However, the Bruins quickly responded with a 14-0 run of their own to take control of the game.

Bruins Dominate Second Half

UCLA extended its lead to 15 points by halftime and never looked back. The Bruins shot 50% from the field in the second half and held Louisville to just 35% shooting.

Louisville was led by Emily Engstler, who finished with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Chelsie Hall added 15 points for the Cardinals.

Charisma Osborne led the way for UCLA with 23 points. Kiki Rice added 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Bruins.

The loss drops Louisville to 0-1 on the season. The Cardinals will return to action on Saturday when they host Kentucky in the KFC Yum! Center.
