Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to play in Week 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers despite suffering an ankle injury in the Chiefs' Week 8 win over the New York Giants.

Mahomes was injured in the second quarter of the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Giants when he was sacked by Giants defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux. Mahomes limped off the field and was replaced by backup quarterback Chad Henne.

Mahomes returned to the game in the third quarter and led the Chiefs to a touchdown drive. He finished the game 20-of-27 passing for 258 yards and two touchdowns.

Mahomes was limited in practice this week, but he is expected to be a full participant in practice on Friday.

If Mahomes is able to play, he will be facing a Buccaneers defense that is ranked 13th in the NFL in points allowed per game.

The Buccaneers have allowed an average of 21.2 points per game this season. They have also recorded 10 sacks and six interceptions.

The Chiefs are currently 5-2 on the season and are in first place in the AFC West. The Buccaneers are 3-4 on the season and are in second place in the NFC South.

The Chiefs are looking to extend their winning streak to three games, while the Buccaneers are looking to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Chiefs and Buccaneers will face off at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida on Sunday, November 4th at 4:25 PM ET.
