Philly DA: Jail cells are ready for anyone who tries to mess with city's vote
District Attorney Larry Krasner says his office is prepared to prosecute anyone who tries to interfere with the upcoming election.
Krasner issued a statement on Monday, October 31, saying that his office is "fully prepared" to prosecute any cases of voter intimidation or suppression.
He said that his office has been working with law enforcement partners to identify and investigate any potential threats to the election.
“We will not tolerate any attempts to intimidate voters or suppress the vote,” Krasner said. “We are prepared to use all of the resources at our disposal to ensure that the election is fair and safe.”
Krasner’s statement comes amid growing concerns about the potential for voter intimidation and suppression in the upcoming election.
Earlier this month, the FBI warned that there is a “potential for violence” at polling places on Election Day. The Department of Justice has also announced that it will be deploying federal prosecutors to monitor polling places in key states.
Krasner’s statement is a reminder that voter intimidation is a serious crime. Anyone who tries to interfere with the election could face criminal charges.
If you see any suspicious activity at your polling place, please report it to a poll worker or law enforcement officer.
