Rodney Terry discusses his summer, breaks down three new Longhorn basketball players

Texas basketball head coach Rodney Terry met with media in Austin on Thursday to talk about theLonghorns' summer and the three incoming players who signed with the program from the NCAA transfer portal.

On his summer

"It's been really good," Terry said. "We've been able to get in the gym and work with our guys. Work on player development, work offensively and defensively, and work on game situations. We did a lot of skill work, a lot of individual skill work, a lot of team concept work. I was very pleased with our summer and looking forward to the fall."

On the incoming players

Terry broke down the three incoming players who all play different positions and bring different skills to the floor for Texas.

Tyrese Hunter

Five-star guard Tyrese Hunter is the highest-rated recruit in the 2023 class. He was recruited by Kentucky and Texas A&M but ultimately chose to play for the Longhorns. Hunter is a 6'1" guard who is known for his athleticism and playmaking ability. He is also a very good defender.

Dillon Mitchell

Dillon Mitchell is a 6'8" forward who transferred in from the University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley. Mitchell is a long and athletic player who can score in the post and also stroke it from outside the perimeter. He is also a very good rebounder and shot-blocker.

Kobe Brown

Kobe Brown is a 6'8" forward who transferred from the University of Missouri. Brown is a skilled big man who can score in a variety of ways. He is also a very good passer and rebounder.

On the team's expectations for the upcoming season

Terry said he is excited about the team's potential for the upcoming season. The Longhorns have a lot of young talent and they are expected to be a contender in the Big 12 Conference.
