Runnin' Rebels Open New Season On Monday! - University of Nevada Las Vegas Athletics
Las Vegas, NV - The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) Runnin' Rebels men's basketball team will tip off their 2022-23 season on Monday, November 7th, when they host the Idaho State Bengals at the Thomas & Mack Center.
The Runnin' Rebels are coming off a 2021-22 season in which they finished with a 20-12 record and advanced to the semifinals of the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
They return four starters from that team, including senior guard Bryce Hamilton, who was named to the All-Mountain West First Team last season.
Hamilton averaged 17.9 points per game last season and is expected to be one of the team's leaders this year.
The Runnin' Rebels also welcome a talented group of newcomers, including junior college transfer Keshon Gilbert and freshman guard Nick Blake.
Gilbert was named the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Player of the Year last season, while Blake was a four-star recruit out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas.
The Runnin' Rebels are expected to be a contender in the Mountain West this season and are looking to make a run in the NCAA Tournament.
They open the season with a tough non-conference schedule, which includes games against Arizona, Kansas, and UCLA.
The Runnin' Rebels will open their Mountain West schedule on December 28th when they host the Colorado State Rams.
